Connection Methods
There are two ways to add your plug-in camera to the app:
- Camera hotspot Connection (Recommended): App transfers Wi-Fi details to the camera via the device’s hotspot (IPC_XXXXXX).
- QR Code Setup (Fallback): Use this if the camera hotspot doesn’t appear.
This article focuses on the Camera hotspot connection setup method.
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Power on the Camera
- Connect the power adapter to the camera and plug it into a wall outlet.
- The camera will power on automatically.
2. Enter Pairing Mode
2.1 First-Time Pairing
- When powered on for the first time, the camera automatically enters pairing mode.
- You’ll hear “Ding Dong Ding Dong”, indicating it’s ready to be added in the app.
2.2 Re-Pairing (Previously Connected Device)
If the camera was previously paired, it won’t enter pairing mode automatically. To activate pairing mode manually:
- Hold the Reset button for 5–10 seconds.
- If the button is recessed, use the provided reset pin or a paperclip.
- When pairing mode starts, you’ll hear “Ding Dong Ding Dong”.
3. Connect via Camera Hotspot in the App
3.1 Enable Bluetooth
- Turn on Bluetooth in your phone’s settings.
- On Android, simply turn on Bluetooth in system settings.
- On iOS, turn on Bluetooth and make sure the app has Bluetooth permission in Settings.
3.2 Open the App
- If this is your first time adding a device, tap “Add Camera Now” on the home screen.
- If you’ve added devices before, tap the “+” icon in the upper-right corner and choose “Add a new device.”
3.3 Detect the Camera
Once you're on the “Turn on the device” screen, the app will begin scanning for nearby devices via Bluetooth:
- If your camera is found, a “New device found” alert will appear with a red dot on the camera icon.
- Tap to check the model and SN, then proceed.
- You’ll be taken to the Wi-Fi setup screen.
- If no device is found:
- Tap “I heard the sound” → “Next Step”
- Select your camera model to continue.
3.4 Connect to the Camera’s Hotspot
- On the Wi-Fi setup screen, enter your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi name and password, then tap “Next Step.”
- Confirm the info in the pop-up by tapping “Confirm.”
Next, the app will display instructions saying your camera has created a temporary Wi-Fi network:
- Tap “Got it.”
- Your phone will now prompt you to join the camera’s temporary hotspot, which usually starts with “IPC_” in its name.
- Tap “Join” to connect.
You’ll then be redirected to the “Connecting...” screen where the app begins the setup.
3.5 Use QR Code as Backup
- If your camera still doesn’t appear, tap “Other connection methods.”
- Select “Connect via QR code”, then tap “Continue”.
Use the QR code method if the camera hotspot connection fails or your camera isn't detected.
4. Final Configuration
- After the camera connects successfully, it will automatically jump to “Set a name and location for the device”
- Enter a name and choose a location, then tap “Next Step”
You’ll see “Device added successfully”, then:
- If you need to add more cameras, tap “Add another device” to repeat the setup process.
- If you tap “Let’s start” to go through the installation guide. On the next screen, the app will check signal quality:
- If signal is good, tap “Next Step”
- Follow each step of the on-screen installation guidance
- Tap “Finish” to complete setup
You’ll then return to the Home screen, and the device is ready to use.
