Learn how to safely reboot, reset, or power cycle your Battery, Plug-in, 4G, Bird Feeder, Doorbell, and Light Bulb Cameras.
Terminology
Before you begin, please understand these commonly used terms:
- Reset Button / P Button / Reboot / RST Button: A physical button on the device used for resetting or rebooting.
- Reset Hole / P Hole / Reboot / RST Hole: A small pinhole that requires a pin or paperclip to trigger a reset or reboot.
These terms all refer to the same concept — the physical control used to reboot or reset the camera.
Reset vs. Reboot vs. Power Cycle
- Power Cycle: Turning a device off and on by cutting and restoring power. No settings are lost.
- Reboot: Triggering a restart through a button or hole; no settings are lost.
- Reset: A full reset that clears configuration and requires re-adding the device in the app.
Important: Reset vs. Reboot — Behavior Depends on Power Source
The button behavior depends on your device type:
- Plug-in Cameras & Light Bulb Cameras
Long-pressing the Reset button will require you to add the device again in the app. - Battery-powered Cameras (including Battery, 4G, Bird Feeder, and Doorbell)
Long-pressing the Reboot button will simply restart the device — no re-pairing needed.

Reboot Your Battery Cameras
If you need to reboot your Battery Camera, 4G Camera, Bird Feeder Camera, or Doorbell Camera, follow the steps below. These steps will reboot the system only, and your settings will remain intact. No need to re-add the device in the app.
- Reboot Method: Locate the Reboot Hole (also labeled as “P Hole” or reboot button), and use a pin to press and release the button. The device will automatically reboot and play a startup sound.
- Button Location:
- Standard Battery Cameras: Find the Reboot Hole or P Hole near the power button at the bottom, covered by a silicone cover.
- Bird Feeder Cameras: The Reboot Hole or P Hole is located on top of the camera body, under the silicone cover — not on the feeder base itself.
- Detachable-shell models: Remove the back cover; the Reboot Hole is located on the side, behind a rubber flap.
- PTZ models: The Reboot Hole or P Hole near the top of the rotating camera head.
- Doorbell models: To access the Reboot Hole or P Hole, insert the detaching pin into the hole on top of the doorbell, press gently, and lift off the top cover. The P hole is located on the side of the doorbell body.
Power Cycle Your Devices
If you need to power cycle your devices, follow the steps below.
- Battery-powered devices: Press and hold the power button for about 5 seconds to turn off the device, then press again to turn it back on.
- Plug-in devices: Unplug the device from the power source for 10 seconds, then plug it back in.
- Light Bulb Cameras: Unscrew the camera from the light socket, wait 10 seconds, then screw it back in to restore power.
These steps are designed to help you bring your camera back online or reconnect it to the app.
By knowing where the reset or reboot button is and how to use it, you can quickly fix offline issues or rebind your device when needed.
