This article is designed to introduce and apply device Modes—Home, Away, and Disarmed. This allows you to tailor how devices behave based on their specific location.
How to Set Up and Use Modes in the App
The Modes feature allows users to switch between different security states—Home, Away, and Disarmed—to control how cameras behave, and it applies to all devices under the selected Home, including both Wi-Fi and 4G cameras.
Who Can Access the Mode Feature?
Eligibility Requirements:
- You must have an active Awareness Subscription applied to at least an indoor or outdoor security camera.
Limitations:
- Modes do not apply to shared devices.
- If you select “All devices” or “Shared devices” on the homepage, the Modes option will be hidden.
How to Set and Manage Modes
Method 1: Via the User Page
- Go to the User page in the app.
- Tap Mode Settings.
- Choose a specific Home from the list.
- For each mode (Home, Away, Disarmed), customize how your devices behave under that mode.
Method 2: Via the Home Page
- On the Home page, choose a specific Home in the top left corner.
- Find the mode at the top of this page
- Tap the three-dot icon (⋯) on the mode for more detailed configuration.
Initial Setup Overview
When you first open the Mode Settings page, a pop-up will appear showing:
- Preset Settings: The default configuration recommended by the app for each mode.
- Current Settings: Your current configuration for each camera, which you can customize as needed.
You can choose to apply either the preset settings or continue using your current settings.
Customizable Camera Settings
Each mode lets you define how your cameras behave based on your presence. You can individually customize the behavior of each camera under a specific mode. The key configurable options include:
- Motion Detection
- Motion Notifications
- Audible Alarm
- Flashlight Alarm (available only on supported camera models)
Understanding Each Mode: Home, Away, and Disarmed
Home Mode
Home Mode is designed for when someone is at the location, and minimal disruptions are preferred, but basic security is still active.
In Preset Settings, all devices under the selected Home will detect motion and send push notifications, but audible and flashlight alarms remain off to minimize disruptions when someone is at home.
Away Mode
Away Mode is designed to activate full security monitoring. All devices in your home are armed, and any human motion or activity detected will trigger an alert and alarm.
In Preset Settings, all devices under the selected Home are fully armed. Any detected motion or human presence will trigger notifications and alarms.
Disarmed Mode
Disarmed Mode is used when you want the cameras active for recording, but without sending alerts or triggering alarms.
In Preset Settings, Disarmed Mode keeps motion detection active while disabling push notifications, audible alarms, and flashlight alarms, offering a quiet and non-intrusive monitoring experience.
What Are Alarm Delay and Leaving Delay?
These two features are available in Home and Away modes. These two features enhance user experience and reduce false alarms by allowing a buffer time before alarms are triggered or activated.
Alarm Delay
Definition: The time interval between when motion is detected and when the alarm is actually triggered.
Purpose: Gives you time to enter your home and decide whether to disarm the system before the alarm is activated.
- For example, if you walk into your house while Away Mode is active, you’ll have a short period (up to 180s) to disable the alarm before any sirens sound.
Leaving Delay
Definition: The time interval between when a mode is activated and when it actually takes effect.
Purpose: Gives you time to leave the monitored area without triggering alerts or alarms.
- For example, if you set Away Mode before leaving the house, the system will wait a short period (up to 180s) before it begins monitoring and responding to motion.
